We do not charge anything for you to join a hub!

Community members do pay all of their own costs (including rent, flights, and food), and each location’s cost of living is different. We try and provide some estimation of cost of living, but obviously costs will vary by individual.

We strive to build our hubs with affordability in mind—we believe part of our impact comes from providing an affordable place for members to work on impactful projects and make lasting connections—helping our community members’ limited funding go much further.

Our application process is as follows:

1. Submit an online application to join our community.

2. New applicants may be invited to a 30-minute video interview call. This helps us ensure community fit. This is a casual chat for us to get to know you and vice versa, as well as your motivations for joining!

3. We may contact your provided references. (The closer to our network, the better—e.g. hub alumni, or connections in adjacent high-impact communities.)

4. If you’re accepted, you’ll be added to our hub communication WhatsApp, and we’ll let you know specifics like our shared office location and any shared housing options (if available).

5. Time to book your housing and flight! Community members are responsible for booking their own housing, transportation, etc, and cover all of their own costs. (We are happy to help answer questions about logistics where helpful).

Our community is made up largely of people contributing to (or actively transitioning into) high-impact cause areas and roles, such as AI safety, global health, animal welfare, or other high-impact fields. This allows us to curate an aligned group that helps uplift one another’s work.

That said, our community is diverse: we’ve hosted charity founders, researchers, policy fellows, private sector professionals, writers, and PhD students. What unites everyone is the drive to work thoughtfully on something that matters and to do it alongside others who care just as much.

If you’re unsure whether our community is the perfect fit for you, go ahead and apply anyway! We encourage you to note any questions in your initial application, and we can chat about them on your interview call.

Our hubs are designed with community members’ productivity in mind, and our cadence is one where full-time work (whether a job or personal project) is the norm.

However, what you work on is up to you—this can be a full or part time job, a project, research, studies, or a career transition/job search! We don’t require a specific job or project type, nor any set number of hours, and community members are self-directed in whatever work they have.

Just keep in mind that we are not a vacation group. While we have lots of fun, most of our members spend their weekdays coworking together.

Our multi-step application allows us to assess whether our community is the right fit for you, and vice versa. Our application process allows us to maintain high standards for community alignment, ensuring our community members feel at home and connected as soon as they arrive—and that staying at our hubs will lead to genuinely meaningful and impactful connections!

Our community members range greatly in age and career stage. Most range from early 20s to late 40s. We cannot accept members under the age of 18.
