How to Join
How to Apply
To ensure our hubs remain high-trust and high collaboration value, our application process includes a written application, a video call, and reference checks.
Our application process is as follows:
1. Submit an online application for the hub you’d like to join. (The application link can be found on the webpage for the individual hub you’re applying for—see this website’s navigation bar.)
2. If you’re new to our network, successful applications will be invited to a 30-minute video interview call to ensure community fit. This is a casual chat for us to get to know you and vice versa, as well as your motivations for joining!
3. We may contact your provided references. (The closer to our network, the better—e.g. hub alumni, or connections in adjacent high-impact communities)
4. Once these steps are completed, we’ll let you know if our community is the right match! You’ll be added to a the hub communication channel, and we’ll let you know specifics like our shared office location and any shared housing options (if available).
5. Time to book your housing and flight! Community members are responsible for booking their own housing, transportation, etc, and cover all of their own costs.

Our community is made up of people contributing to (or actively transitioning into) high-impact cause areas and roles, such as AI safety, global health, animal welfare, or other high-impact fields. This allows us to curate an aligned group that helps uplift one another’s work.
That said, our community is diverse: we’ve hosted charity founders, researchers, policy fellows, private sector professionals, writers, and PhD students. What unites everyone is the drive to work thoughtfully on something that matters and to do it alongside others who care just as much.

Our trips are designed around productivity first, and our cadence is one where full-time work (whether a job or personal project) is the norm.
We don’t require a specific job or project type, nor any set number of hours, but we do ask each applicant to share what they’ll be working on during the trip. This can be a job, a project, research, studies, or a career transition/job search!

We have high standards for community alignment. Our multi-step application allows us to assess whether our community is the right fit for you, and vice versa. Our application process helps ensure our community members feel at home and connected as soon as they arrive, and that staying at our hubs will lead to genuinely impactful connections and collaborations.

Community members pay all of their own costs, and each trip’s cost is different. We try and provide some estimation of cost of living, but obviously costs will vary by individual.
We strive to build our hubs with affordability in mind—part of our impact Theory of Change as an organization is providing an affordable place for members to work on impactful projects, making members’ often limited charity funding go further.
Our Values
We work hard to build an aligned community. These are some of the values we look for in community members:
Altruism with Ambition
We’re working to do real good in the world. Impact guides our work, and evidence guides our impact. We aim our skills at problems that actually move the needle.
Curiosity & Truth-Seeking
We want to understand the world, and seek out conversations and experiences that change how we think. We bring strong ideas but hold them lightly, and practice collaborative truth-seeking.
Ownership & Reliability
We encourage high-agency and high follow-through, from big projects to the household dishes. We are self-directed and accountable. Our members take care of shared spaces and of those around us.
Warmth, Kindness, and Social Maturity
We seek others who are kind by default. People who help, listen, and include. Who care how others feel and go out of their way to help others. Who care about the group, handle conflict well, and bridge cultural differences with openness.
Playfulness & Positivity
Even when tackling some of the world’s biggest problems, we still hold the joy of life front of mind. We believe in laughter and play even when the work is hardest. We choose to go deep without getting too weighed down.
Growth Mindset
You’re the kind of person who asks, “how can I improve?”, invites feedback, and acts on it. You never stop improving. You share your growth findings with others without putting uninvited pressure.
